CIA'den Open Source Center

Geçen hafta yayınlanan bir habere göre CIA, topluma açık bilgilerden istihbarat amacıyla yararlanmak için bir organizasyon kurmuş.

Open Source Center ismiyle anılacak olan bu merkez, Internet, ticari veritabanları, periyodik yayınlar, radyo, video, haritalar ve diğer basılı kaynaklar üzerinden bilgi edinip bunları ülke çıkarları doğrultusunda kullanacak.

Klasik kaynakları daha önce kullanmakta olan, dünya çapında dinleme operasyonlarına sahip organizasyonun, sokaktaki insanın erişebileceği bilgilerden ne gibi sonuçlar çıkartabileceği merakla bekleniyor.

Good Will Hunting (Can Dostum) filminde, Will Hunting'in yaptığı "Why shouldn't I work for the N.S.A.?" konuşması geldi aklıma.

And of course the oil companies used the skirmish to scare up oil prices so they could turn a quick buck. A cute little ancillary benefit for them but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. And naturally they're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, and maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and play slalom with the icebergs, and it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic. So my buddy's out of work and he can't afford to drive, so he's got to walk to the job interviews, which sucks 'cause the shrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorrhoids. And meanwhile he's starvin' 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what do I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. Why not just shoot my buddy, take his job and give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected president.

Apache.org´u nasıl hack ettim?

Baştan söyleyeyim, hack eden ben değilim ;) Daha önce Apache.org un başına gelenler yazısında belirttiğim olayın akabinde, hack'in nasıl gercekleştirildigine dair hacker (cracker?) ile bir IRC roportajı yapılmış.

Kendini fluffy bunny diye tanıtan hacker roportajda detaylı bir şekilde apache.org, VA Linux (themes.org), Source Forge (5 ay) ve de bir ISP'yi (Akamai.net) nasıl eline geçirdiğini anlatıyor. Genel olarak sniffing ve SSH üstünden trojan horse yollayarak passwordleri ele geçirdiğinden bahseden bunny kendisine white hat mi yoksa black hat mi diye soranlara da gray hat olduğunu soylemiş ;) (Do not underestimate the power of the dark side... PHP 5.2 ile beraber PHP'de setcookie() fonksiyonuna 7.parametre olarak httponly desteği gelmiş.

Httponly çerezlere Javascript ile ulaşılamadığı için xss ataklarının en tehlikelisi olan cookie çalma olayı ortadan kalkıyor.

Şu an tek sorun her tarayıcı tarafından desteklenmemesi, ama yakında bir çok tarayıcı yeni sürümünde bu standartlara uyacaktır tahminimce.IE 7 ile en güvenli şekilde bu özelliği destekliyor, fakat mozilla şaşırtıcı bir şekilde desteklemiyor.

MS Windows ve GNU/Linux'a Bulaşabilen Virüs Yazıldı!

Antivirüs yazılım firması Kaspersky tarafından tespit edilen ve duyurulan virüs hem MS windows hem de GNU/Linux yüklü sistemlere bulaşabiliyor.

Kaspersky tarafından duyurulan virüsün iki ismi var; Virus.Linux.Bi.a / Virus.Win32.Bi.a. Virüsün herhangi bir zararı dokunmuyor yine de bunun bir "proof of concept" tarzı bir virüs olduğu, koduyla oynanarak zararlı hale getirilebileceği belirtiliyor. Virüsle ilgili daha çok bilgi bu adresten edinilebilir.

Yukarıdaki sorunun cevabı nedir diye düşündünüz mü bilmiyorum ama benim cevabım "alınmalıdırlar, tabii haklarında gerekli araştırmalar ve testler yapıldıktan sonra" şeklindeydi.

Bugün okuduğum bir haberde ise yakın zamanda yapılmış bir araştırmaya göre şirket yöneticilerinin görüşlerinin bu konuda olumsuz olduğu anlatılıyor.

Hackerlar işe alınır mı? haberindeki sonuçların ilginç olan kısmı ise genel eğilimin hackerları tam zamanlı şirket elemanı olarak değil de daha çok aralıklarla başvurulacak bir tür danışman statüsünde yönünde olması.
